Taylor deserved her moment. + Vampire Diaries

Posted on Monday, September 14, 2009 by LuciLikeWhoa

In this post there are two main things I am going to talk about.

1. The Vampire Diaries and
2. The 2009 MTV VMAs
Number 1: The Vampire Diaries.
Thing back to some of my earlier posts, Do great minds think alike? and Vampire Diaries: Revisited. In these posts I discussed a series called The Vampire Diaries and how it was being adapted for television. Well the Pilot premiered last Thursday on the CW Network and yes, the Twilight comparisons have begun. One insane person was quoted as saying, "omg, is this Vampire Diaries ripping off Twilight? I mean seriously the main girl is exactly like Bella!" If anything Twilight is ripping of Vampire Diaries. If this person thinks that The Vampire Diaries are ripping off Twilight, wait until they discover that Tyler's a werewolf.
Number 2: 2009 MTV VMAs
By now you have probably heard about Kanye West's little out burst at the VMAs, and if you haven't you can watch it here. Taylor Swift won the award for best female video, beating out the likes of P!NK, Katy Perry and Beyonce-who was nominated for single ladies. Taylor's moment comes and she gets on stage to begin her speech and all of a sudden Kanye comes running on stage saying that Taylor doesn't deserve the award and that Beyonce should have gotten it. What was wrong with him!? Taylor had worked very hard for that award, and deserved to have her moment. Beyonce later, won for music video of the year and in her speech she reflected upon her first VMA. She stated that when she was 17 years old and up for a MTV award with Destiny's Child, how it was one of the exciting moments in her life. She then, being the gracious lady that she is, asked Taylor to come out and have her moment. (Watch video here). Taylor Swift is a very talented artist and deserved to have her 30 seconds and I think everyone can agree that Kanye is a douche.
On a different topic, what the hell was Lady (Sir) Gaga wearing!?

Another Adaption...yay?

Posted on Monday, August 31, 2009 by LuciLikeWhoa

It has come to my attention that another series I like is being turned into a movie. Uglies by Scott Westerfeld has been optioned for a movie and although at this stage there is no new news about the project, I am eager to see how it will turn out. (To find out more follow this blog link.) I think Scott has approached this in a great way, by asking the fans what they want to see in the movie. Of course there are the basics like stay as close to the storyline as possible, but there are also requests for unknown actors and actress for the major roles of Tally, Shay, David, Zane-la and for the use of the special affects to look real. I think if they can pull it off while keeping to the story it would be an amazing movie. Perhaps I will make a cast video, and I will be sure to put it up here! Well thats all for this blog. Fingers crossed for the movie!

Blood Promise review.

Posted on Thursday, August 27, 2009 by LuciLikeWhoa

SPOILERS! From the minute I picked it up I couldn't put it down. Blood Promise is the long awaited fourth book in Richelle Mead's brilliant series, Vampire Academy. We begin in Russia where Rose is still looking for her now Strigoi boyfriend Dimitri Belikov. Her mission is simple: find him and kill him. But Rose is struggling, having never been to Russia and only going off what Dimitri has told her about his life in Russia, she keeps arriving at dead ends. It isn't until she meets Sydney, a human who knows about the Vampire world, when Rose really makes a break through. Sydney is an Alchemist, a human who has been trained to assists the Guardians in covering up their Strigoi kills. After a few phone calls, Sydney agrees to take Rose to Dimitri's home town- Omsk. However, back home Lissa is struggling. She worries about Rose a lot and is not doing well in her one-on-one classes with Adrian. Although new comer, Avery Lazar helps her overcome these issues-through a haze of alcohol. After being attacked by Strigoi and evoking her weird ghost power, Rose wakes up in a house in Baia. But this isn't just any old house, this Olena Belikova's house- Dimitri's mother. Rose spends about a month with the Belikovs, she tells them of his heroic death and they come to the realisation the Rose and Dimitri were together. Yeva, Dimitri's grandmother takes Rose on an outing to the house of Mark and Oskana. Where Rose discovers that she and Lissa are not alone in the Shadow kissed world. Rose then decides to leave the Belikovs and go off and hunt for Dimitri, with the help of some rouge Strigoi hunters. She succeeds but forgets rule number 1: Don't Hesitate. So now she is locked up in a room that looks more like a hotel and the daily visits from the Strigoi Dimitri are not helping. After finally clearing her head Rose manages to escape. Though she doesn't get far, when she reaches the bridge-which happens to be my favorite scene- Dimitri is there to confront her, but when the time comes will she be able to kill him? Blood Promise is a fantastic follow up to Shadow Kiss and I can not wait for the release of Spirit Bound in 2010.

Orphan: WTF

Posted on Monday, August 24, 2009 by LuciLikeWhoa

Spoiler Alert! When I first saw the trailer for this movie I was excited. I absolutely love horror movies and from the trailer, Orphan directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, looked like a decent horror movie. But sadly if wasn't. It took a long time for the movie to really start, the first half was insanely boring. When Esther, played by Isabelle Fuhrman, began killing people the movie really began. The killing scenes were brutally awesome, the goriness made you squirm in your seat. As the story unraveled, you begin to wonder who or what Esther is and let me tell you that the twist is not what you expect. I would have love it if Esther turned out to be some ghost with a hunger for revenge but no. The tagline for this movie is "There's Something Wrong With Esther," however I disagree. I think the tagline should have been, "There's Something Wrong With Our Writer." Because the twist at the end is so sickining, it makes you want to throw up! Apparently, someone thought it would be a great idea if Esther turned out to be a 33 year old-midget-virgin-serial killer that pretends to be a child so that a nice family would adopt her. Then she would proceed to kill the entire family only to have sex with her father figure. With that said I gave the Orphan a 5/10. However, the young actress who played Esther, Isabelle Fuhrman done an amazing job for a 12 year old. With a talent like hers, she will go far in the acting world. Based on her acting alone, my rating is 8/10, but that is just based on her portraying a character so physcopathic and twisted as Esther. I also have to mention the cute little girl who played Max, Aryana Engineer. Out of all the character she is the one you want to survive Esther's madness.

At the moment I am shaking, because I am so exited. Today the lovely people at soundwave.com announced their 2010 lineup and guess who was on that list?... A DAY TO REMEMBER!!! So now I am super excited and yes I am definatly going. There is NO WAY I am going to miss this! I have no clue when tickets go on sale but when they do I will be first in line. The only way they can make it anymore awesome is if VersaEmerge was playing but still- ADTR!! Anyway now to some updates... I seen G.I Joe for my birthday, so there will be a review on that soon. And keep your eyes open for my review on Orphan which I will be seeing on Sunday. So post your comments and I will see you later.

WARNING: SPOILERS IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE MOVIE DO NOT READ! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince had me sitting on the edge of my seat and is probably one of the best movies of this year. I don't even know where to begin, from the moment the movie started you were entranced, although the opening scenes kinda made me dizzy. The beginning to the middle had some memorable and funny scenes. Lavender Brown was psychotic and even though it was predictable, I liked the hospital scene when Ron whispers Hermiones name and not hers. The scene where Harry and Dumbledore go to the cave to get one of the Horcruxes was spooky and I will honestly say when that hand came out of the water, I jumped. Dumbledore's death has to be the saddest moment in the entire series of movies. When Snape yells "Adava Kadava," and the camera zoomed in to watch Dumbledore fall to his death, it left me and many others breathless and I struggled to hold back my tears. I don't know what else I can say in this review, but one thing is certain, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is sure not to disappoint and I know I want to go and see it again. 9/10

10 Things That Can Suprise You About Remakes.

Posted on Saturday, July 11, 2009 by LuciLikeWhoa

Some remakes can surprise you, others cant and some you just are unsure about. So when I heard about the 10 Things I Hate About You remake I was naturally pissed off. I mean come on every one loves the movie, right? I have just finished watching the first episode of the new series, 10 Things I Hate About You and I have to say it surprised me. The plots a little different from the movie, first of all Bianca and Kat move to a new town and are starting a new school and while Kat's character profile doesn't change...much, Bianca's does. Because they are starting at a new school Bianca isn't instally popular, so she has to climb the social ladder to be at its peak with Chastity. For a remake into a television show I would have preferred if they had changed all, well most of the characters names, because I don't know about you but I was constantly comparing the replacements to the originals. Which brings me to Ethan Peck who plays Patrick Verona, originally played by the late Heath Ledger. I have only seen one episode so I can't entirely compare the two but so far I have to say Peck is doing a decent job at portraying Patrick, however he is no Heath (and his voice sounds unnaturally deep). Side Note: 10 Things I Hate About You, is probably my favorite Heath Ledger movie. The T.V series has some familiar faces in it, for those who are fans of Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide; you will recognise Lindsey Shaw a.k.a Moze, who plays Kat. Nicholas Braun who played Zach in Sky High is now playing Cameron. Have you watched Camp Rock before? If that's a yes, you will remember Meaghan Jette Martin who played Tess Tyler who is now portraying Bianca and finally last but not least, Larry Miller who plays Dr Stratford, the girls father; the T.V show and movies he has been in is a very long list, but if you click his name it will take you straight to his IMDB profile. Overall the first episode was great and if the rest of the season is anything like the first episode, I think we may have a hit on our hands.

HOLIDAYS!!! + Harry Potter = AWESOME

Posted on by LuciLikeWhoa

I was meant to post this the other day, but I got sidetracked.
Free periods can be awesome can't they? Yeah sure if you have friends in that class. So I'm writing this in my free period but I'm posting it now, after school well a couple of days after school. Cause my schools crap and blocks every site. I mean EVERY fricken site! Anyway back to my rant...Free periods. Yay! So right now I'm in Ancient History but it is soo boring I mean I love the subject but hate the class. Ugh!
But I'm dropping it at the end of the year so that's something to look forward to, right? Man, I wish I had my laptop! There's a kid here using his, it's a real old school Dell. Bells going to go soon so whoooo.
Hmm so I won those tickets to Harry Potter on July 13th. So look out for my review around then. I am also seeing the Hannah Montana movie and yes there will be a review with that. I don't know what to do/ say now, a teacher just came around and told me that this period is slightly longer, oh joy! More hell on earth to come.

I'm so pumped for Harry Potter!
TV show recommendation: Being Human. Its about a vampire, werewolf and ghost living together, trying to be human, hence the title; Being Human. Anyway its an awesome show and if you have a spare sec check it out, so far there's one season with six episodes and the last episode has so many cliffhangers it is not funny! I'm running out of things to say...my pens leaking (originally written on paper cause I had no computer). Gossip Girl returns in September
And at this point the bell finally rings! YAY!

So I wrote all that in my free period. Now its finally the holidays and I'm so excited. Harry Potter is on Monday which I can't wait for. There's a dress up competition but I don't have time to make a costume, so if I win tickets to the Deathly Hallows I may dress up (if there's another comp). So I guess that is all, for this post anyway. Comment if you will.

Harry Potter..

Posted on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 by LuciLikeWhoa

Jesus Christ! I haven't updated in a while, sorry. Now lets see what have I been up to? I am currently waiting for a Myspace Black Curtain countdown to end so that I can win tickets, like I did for Wolverine. However, this time its for Harry Potter. Yes, I know the stakes are high and the possibility of me winning again is like |-| well not even that much. But I hope I win!
What else is new? I may be going to Green Day in December, and I still want to go and see WICKED (no doubt about that!)!! I started and finished watching an anime called Vampire Knight, beware it is HIGHLY addictive! So now I have ordered the manga version and I am waiting for volumes 3 and 4 to come in. I have also started reading the House of Night series. Its alright... I guess, the story line is okay, though the writing is extremely poor. But for some twisted reason I like it. *shrugs shoulders*
Well I should be getting back to finishing my Design and Tech assignment that was due, oh I don't know three days ago oh and then there is that Ancient one as well. CRAP! I will post a review for Harry Potter (regardless if I win the tickets or not!) and I guess that's it.

Defying Gravity...

Posted on Saturday, June 13, 2009 by LuciLikeWhoa

Ok think back to my post, I loathe it all! Remember, it was about the award winning musical Wicked and how it only opened in Melbourne and neglected Sydney fans, oh and how its being turned into a movie? Well guess what, IT'S FINALLY COMING TO SYDNEY!!!!!
Can you tell Im excited? It opens in September and tickets go on sale tomorrow, and Im so excited. I am going to see it at least 3 times, I dont know where Im getting the money from... But Im seeing it three times. Oh and on Friday (12th June) I went on a school trip to a craft fair in Sydney and as we were walking past Capitol Theatre, my friend Sarah and I saw a MASSIVE Wicked sign and of course I screamed. We took a TONE of photos of our Wicked Day in Sydney. So anyway Im super excited and I cant wait until September!!

You will always have the stars...

Posted on Monday, June 8, 2009 by LuciLikeWhoa

"The first time I realized that it wasn't just fun and magic- the first time I knew there was anything bad about being a -...anything bad about it was the first time I realized that I would never die, but all my Arrowwood friends would...It scared me, because I realized that all of the people I loved in the world, there would be so few I would ever get to keep...So I tried to think what I could keep. If there was anything that would stay with me always."
"The stars," Lucas said. "You knew you would always have the stars."
I nodded, and I knew he understood everything. He took me in his arms and held me so tightly that I could believe Lucas would be with me forever, too.
-Stargazer page 96

Warning: Spoilers
Stargazer is the amazing follow up to the best seller Evernight and just like Evernight, once I started reading I just couldn't put it down! Its a new school year and most of the students are returning, as well as more human students. While Bianca Oliver is happy to see her friends from last year, there is once person missing. Her boyfriend and Black Cross member, Lucas Ross.
The passing of notes between Vic, Bianca and Lucas continues but when a chance to see Lucas in person arises Bianca doesn't hesitate. A surprising alliance between Lucas and Balthazar ends up becoming the downfall of Lucas and Bianca's secretive relationship. But their love proves a strong force that either can not deny. A "prank" call to the Black Cross, leaves Bianca having to choose between her family and Lucas which will she choose?
I found Stargazer to be an amazing sequel to Evernight. I finished it within a day, while working on an assignment! It leaves you wanting more and the first chapter of Hourglass, just isn't enough to keep you entertained until its release in December. 7/10.

Vampire Diaries: Revisited

Posted on Thursday, June 4, 2009 by LuciLikeWhoa

Do you remember my second post when I talked about a series I had discovered that shared so many similarities with twilight?
Vampire Diaries, ring a bell? The CW Network has just announced that they will be showing the Vampire Diaries TV show, and yes I am excited. Though with viewing the teasers and what not, there are somethings and people missing. First of all Paul Wesley as Stefan and Ian Somerhalder as Damon are just the most perfectest (not a word, but is now), people for the roles. Elena isn't as popular and outgoing and blonde as she is in the books and I'm pretty sure that Margret (Elena's little sister) has been replaced by an older brother named Jeremy. But of course the one little fact that has Vampire Diaries fans in a up roar is the 'disappearance' of the character, Meredith. And as assumed, (but I know I did it to,) it is already being compared to Twilight. Which leads me to my, as promised (and long overdue) review of the not so final three books, yes that's right, I just found out that there are another three books due for release;

  • Vampire Diaries: The Return: Nightfall,
  • Vampire Diaries: The Return: Shadow Souls and
  • Vampire Diaries: The Return: Midnight.
Which after I have read them I will post yet another review.
Please be warned there are spoilers.
Book 2: The Struggle. It didn't have as many similarities as the Awakening did, when compared to Twilight/ New Moon the only thing was that like Bella, Elena had to chose between two boys which she equally loved. Granted, most people would debate that Elena didn't love Damon as much as she loved Stefan, and yes that may be true but she did love Damon in her own way. But after saying that, I don't think that Elena would ever chose Damon over Stefan. Overall a great book and a fantastic follow up to the Awaking that left me thirsty for more...
Book 3: The Fury. The Eclipse of the Vampire Diaries Saga. Just like in Eclipse, the Fury leads up to an epic battle where brothers, Stefan and Damon (who still hate each other) must unite to save the one they both love from the one they both once loved. Confusing much? Elena is still torn between the two brothers, just like Katherine was (wink, wink). Bonnie finally taps into her psychic intuition and with the help of Meredith, Elena, Matt, Stefan and even Damon discover a secret that has been hidden in Fell's Church since the day Horina Fell died. But out of the six that discover this secret only five survive.
Book 4: The (Dark) Reunion. Not quite the Breaking Dawn of Vampire Diaries, which I have to admit thank god it wasn't. We start off in Florence, Italy and are pleased to find that Damon and Stefan are still together, just as they promised Elena in her final moments. (Well I did say there would be spoilers!) But after Bonnie's haunting dreams of Elena, she (using her mystic Druid knowledge) summons Stefan and Damon back to Fell's Church for one last battle. With Katherine a pile of dust the brothers and Elena ever loyal friend don't know who's causing all this trouble. It isn't until Bonnie channels Elena's spirit that everyone finds out that Klaus, (who changed the dying Miss Katherine into a vampire) is the one terrifying the town of Fell's Church. Of course we all knew some thing was seriously wrong with that Tyler kid and we finally find out what exactly is wrong with that disturbed child. The, what was thourght to be the final book end with yet another epic battle where, "No more blood will be shed."
Now go read this fantastic seris and come back and comment with your thourghts....

The Illuminati have returned.

Posted on Saturday, May 23, 2009 by LuciLikeWhoa

If you haven't guessed by the title or picture, I have just seen the latest Ron Howard directed movie- Angels & Demons. Tom Hanks returned as Professor Robert Langdon and with the help of Vittoria Vetra (played by Ayelet Zurer) go on yet another scavenger hunt to find the Illuminati headquarters. (Keep in mind Angels & Demons the movie is the sequel to the DaVinci code and Angels & Demons the book is like the prequel to the DaVinci code.) Overall I thought the movie was fantastic and if you liked the DaVinci code you should definitely go and see it. Though I thought the DaVinci code was better in some ways. Angels & Demons, like the DaVinci code kept you questioning about religion and science. Can the two co-exist, is it possible that religion and science lead to the same conclusion, and are there other possible signs or symbols that can answer many of today's unanswered questions?
Ron Howard has delivered another hit here and it is sure to leave you wondering long after the movie has finished. 8.5/10
Comment if you want.

No More Queen B.

Sorry I haven't been on much lately my computer decided it wasn't going to work. Anywho...
Exams are nearly over and I only have two more to do, Ancient History and Design and Technology both of which I am not looking forward to. Then once the exams are over I have 3 Assignments to hand in. THREE! But on the plus side holidays are only 8 weeks away. Yes I have already started to count down. However I do have something to look forward to this weekend...I'm going to see the new Angels & Demons movie. So excited!
I have just finished watching the Gossip Girl finale and Oh.My.God. There are talks of Georgina Sparks becoming a permeate character and is Serena and Eric's father coming onto the show? Oh and Blair and Chuck FINALLY! But I was kind shocked that Rufus proposed I thought that if he was going to propose it would be a cliff hanger. (Notice how at the end of season 1 Bart proposed to Lily and at the end of this season Rufus is proposing to Lily. hmm..) And who thought the end of Queen B led to the rise of Queen J? Can't wait until Season 3!
You know you want to comment...xoxo LuciLikeWhoa x

Hello and a Happy Mothers Day to all you Mums. So by now you have heard of the very successful Broadway musical Wicked, and if you haven't where you been hiding under a rock? Anyway I personally haven't seen it because it never came to Sydney only Melbourne. However, I know every word to Popular and What Is This Feeling. I loathe, I mean love it all. I was surfing on IMBD one day and nearly fell off the chair when I stumbled across the page for Wicked: The Movie. So now I am really excited! Today, I purchased the Hannah Montana Movie album and as I was reading the songs I screamed out with joy when I saw the name Steve Rushton. For those who don't know Steve was in the band Son of Dork who sadly, broke up. Anyway he is an amazing singer check it out! So that will be all for today I have to go any finish an assignment...

So right now its study, study, study, which means you may not see as many posts but, my faithful readers I will try to post on a weekly basis. However, you can still catch me on my YouTube or Myspace accounts.
Have you seen X Men Origins yet? no? GO SEE IT! I think I may go and see it again, it was so awesome! I was watch the second one the other day and I found out that Strykers son was Jason (the guy with the two different eye colours), but in Origins they made it sound like Deadpool aka Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) was Strykers son. Warning:If you are planing to go and see Wolverine stop here. There may be spoilers, continue at your own risk...
If you are a regular visitor of my blog then you know tonight was the night! Yep
that's right the premiere of Wolverine in Australia! Oh My God it was awesome, 8.5/10! The effects were amazing, although his claws some times looked fake. Ryan Reynolds was simply and purely amazing as Deadpool! At first I was annoyed when I found out that Will.I.Am was in the movie, but he was fantastic. It was a really good story line and it gives great incite into who Wolverine actually is. You find out the reasons behind his transformation and the reason why he can't remember any of it. There are a few notable characters that make brief appearances as children (Scott Summers for one). But the one appearance that, I guess no one actually saw coming is right at the end, though I wont spoil that for you. Go watch it, if you are a fan of any of the X-Men series you will love Wolverine.
I hope the fifth one (if there is going to be one), should continue on from the third movie, where we discover that Xavier is in fact alive and if there is a cure for the cure?? OR Continue on from the part where Xavier comes and rescues the children and be about how he established the Academy. Tell me what you think...

10 Reason Why Twilight the Movie was crap!

Posted on Monday, April 27, 2009 by LuciLikeWhoa

If you love Twilight the movie stop here. If you hated it please continue...
So if you haven't guessed, I am a fan of the Twilight Saga. I was so excited when the movie was released my friends and I went up to Sydney for the premiere. Honestly, the movie was shit. Waste of time and money and the people that say that the movie was fantastic, it lived up to all the expectations simply annoy me. The one Mike line that takes literally two seconds to say (I timed it), "So did you stab Edward Cullen with a pencil or something?" was cut. I don't blame Cathrine, I blame the writer Melissa Rosenberg. Though there are many other scenes from the book that happened to get cut, two words: 'Blood Type.'
Anyway since the release of Twilight, we have bitched about everything wrong with the movie and my friend just sent me a link to a wonderful site that points out these flaws. Check it out here.
Oh and I thought it was kinda funny that when Bella nearly got squished by the van, her iPod headphones stayed in!?
So without further a due I must bid you goodbye. Comments always welcome.

Do great minds really think alike?

Posted on Saturday, April 25, 2009 by LuciLikeWhoa

I have just begun reading a new series. The first book, The Vampire Diaries: Awakening was fantastic! Though as I was reading it I noticed a few similarities...

1. Italian Vampire (Male)
2. Can go out in sunlight
3. Drinks animal blood
4. Goes to school
5. Falls in love with a human
6. Craves for her blood
7. Fantasises about killing her
8. "Shape shifters"
9. Drives a Porche 911 Turbo
10. Saves the human girl a number of times
Now I bet you instantly thought 'Twilight'? Am I correct? Your think who ever wrote this book is ripping off Twilight, blah blah blah. (Keep in mind I have only read the first book, once I read the others I will post another blog assessing all the similarities between both books.)
But here's the catch...
This series written by L.J Smith, was written 18 years BEFORE Twilight.
Now is Miss Stephenie Meyer a plagiarist or do great minds think alike?
Comments welcome...
